Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending, and top-ranked research to corporate, government, institutional and retail clients around the world. Our goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally. CIBC Capital Markets consists of three lines of business; Global Markets, Global Investment Banking and Corporate Banking.

In this role, you will support the distribution of Interest Rate Derivatives products within the Financial Solutions Group (“FSG”) for CIBC Capital Markets. The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment as part of a dynamic, hardworking, production-focused sales team. Your mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to (FSG) clients, with a focus on activities that will increase the distribution of Interest Rate Derivatives and cross-asset products within the network.

How You’ll Succeed

Market-making – Solid understanding of financial markets, credit risk and market risk to effectively structure trades and evaluate risk. Proven ability to pay close attention to detail and execute transactions within tight timeframes with an analytic/systematic approach. Analyze business requirements, design, and implement automated solutions.

Client Focus – Develop and sustain business partnerships with Government and Corporate issuers, investors and internal partners across Capital Markets and other CIBC lines of businesses

Cross-functional Relationships – Work with internal teams (Compliance, Risk Management, Technology, Treasury, Operations) to ensure adherence to all regulations and internal limits.

Who You Are

Education & Industry Experience. Minimum 5+ years related experience; MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation preferred with strong knowledge of Capital Markets products. CFA charter holder or working towards a similar designation. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or Economics. Capital Markets. Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA and python experience required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a keen interest in financial markets.

CSC and CPH considered an asset; must be completed immediately upon employment. Derivative Fundamentals and Options License Course must be completed immediately upon employment

Relevant sales experience with a proven record of accomplishment of results in OTC Interest Rate Derivatives.

Strong overall knowledge of Capital Markets with sufficient knowledge of the financial services industry / regulatory environment

Technical Skills. Familiarity with Fixed Income trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg TOMS) and expert Excel user. Solid development skills in C#, Python, SQL Server, VBA.

Thrive in Trading Floor Environment. Required to make frequent decisions in a fast paced, open concept work environment; ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workload

Collaborative. Solid verbal and written communication skills. An ability to effectively manage interactions across various functional groups. Ability to draft comprehensive presentations using advanced frameworks in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
